Elopements are becoming increasingly more popular, thank you wanderlust. I honestly had never even considered doing this because I assumed that’s what people how had money to spare did or honestly I didn’t even really think of it as an option. I’m here to let you know, it’s an option, it’s not as expensive as you’d think, it can really actually make your wedding planning easier, and you can have the best of both worlds.. YUP.
#1. IT’S ALL ABOUT: YOU, YOUR BOO + YOUR LOVE.
Two words: LESS. PLANNING. When you elope it takes all the messiness out of who is in the wedding party, who’s on the guest list (even though, I have made that step a bit easier for you over on my blog about guest lists), what food are you serving and how much, will there be a bouquet toss, what decorations are you planning on going with? All this can get so easily overwhelming. When you elope you make this day what it’s meant to be, a celebration of your love. It’s just you + your babe and saying “I Do” and probably with a killer view.. Which leads me into my next point.
#2. KILLER VIEWS BABY. GETTING MARRIED WHERE YOU WANT.
I don’t know if you’ve been bitten by the wanderlust bug or you were born to travel but either way did you know you can get married on a beach in Hawaii or a mountain top in Colorado or even a forest in California? If there is anywhere you’ve been dying to go, you get an excuse to not only visit these amazing places but get married at one! You can go straight from wedding mode to honeymooning, then later make it a special vacation spot.
#3. MORE OPEN BUDGET FOR HIGHER TICKET ITEMS (OR SAVE $$)
A traditional wedding can eat up a budget real quick, decor, food, dresses, suits, venue, photographer, DJ, florist, just to name a few. We all know these things can add up and I think if anyone could they’d like to save some money, right? With an elopement, you don’t have to worry about all the small details. You don’t need a DJ, no food for guests, you sure as heck need a photog (shameless plug), dress, bouquet. You can save money in areas and put it toward more important things that would help you create the wedding of your dreams. Maybe it’s a dress you never before thought you’d be able to afford, a photographer who’s images you drool over, a videographer of your special day with your bomb location that you’ll be able to share with friends, family and future kids, an epic honeymoon to follow your killer views of those mountains. You name it, it’s a possibility!
#4. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.
Okay, okay, so you are dying to elope but you’re pretty sure you would never hear the end of it if your family didn’t get to be with you when you tied the knot. I get that. You’ve got a couple options. Option One: Have a small elopement, a location that’s not far enough that your close family and friends wouldn’t be able to come. Somewhere they’d be willing to travel with you to help celebrate. Option Two: Elope for your ceremony then when you get home from your epic elopement have a reception with all your family and friends to help celebrate. This way they are still a part of the celebrations but you were able to also have the wedding of your dreams.
Now tell me, before reading this did you also forget elopements were an option? Let me know below if you’re pro elopement!
