Erik & Tricia’s Surprise Proposal Surprise Proposal at Palisade Head in Silver Bay, Minnesota

I had the honor of photographing a beautiful surprise proposal at Palisade Head in Minnesota, not far from Silver Bay. This spot, with its stunning cliffs along the North Shore and views of Lake Superior, made the perfect backdrop for such a special moment.

I was planning a trip near Duluth, Minnesota, with my family and decided to schedule some sessions while we were there. Tricia and Erik reached out for a couples session to celebrate their 7-year anniversary. Before the session, Erik contacted me with his plan to propose during the shoot. I was thrilled at the thought of this surprise proposal at Palisade Head in Minnesota, with the most perfect view.

As Erik and Tricia stood at the cliff’s edge, back to back, the lake stretching out beside them, he dropped to one knee. When Tricia turned around her face lit up. The cool breeze off the lake was perfect. Capturing her “yes” was so incredibly heartwarming.

The Engagement Session near the North Shore

Right after the proposal, we jumped into a mini engagement session. The cliffs, the lake, and the lush greenery gave us endless beautiful spots for photos. Erik and Tricia were so comfortable with each other and it showed in every shot. We wandered through different areas, catching the water and scenery of the North Shore, making the photos even more magical of this surprise proposal at Palisade Head turned engagement session.

While we were in the area we stopped at a restaurant where I had one of the best hot lattes called The North Woods. If you’re passing through Two Harbors you have to stop at The Vanilla Bean and try it out!
