This photo is of my great-grandparents on their wedding day in Brooklyn, New York. My grandma—a first-generation Italian American from the city—met my grandpa, a Midwesterner, while he was serving in the military alongside her brother. Their love story, rooted in two completely different worlds, became the beginning of our family.
I cherish this photo not just because it’s beautiful, but because it tells the story of where we come from. It represents the start of a legacy—one that I’m proud to be a part of.
