Here are 5 unique ideas for your family session. If you’re wanting something a little different than standing out in a field at sunset for your family photos this year, here are ways to make it all your own.

5 Unique Ideas for Your Family Session
Library or Local Bookstore
Where are my book lovers? This would be the cutest session for your family if you love reading books together. Imagine sitting between book shelves, snuggled up reading some classics or even some funny joke books. Bonus points if you do your session at a local book store. We have one in the area I live called The Nook and it’s one of my favorites. Not only does it have great books but the aesthetics and vibes are immaculate! I would love to photograph a family session here (if you’d like one here please reach out!)
Bowling Alley
Love a good night out on the town? A bowling alley session would be so much fun. What would be better than creating an entire experience around a session that your family will always remember. Whether you make it a competition to document who wins or you get cute photos of your kids bowling with bumpers, a bowling session would be so much fun!
Summer Fun Family Session
Maybe it’s just me dreaming of warmer weather, but I already scheduled a few of these family sessions for this year and I cannot wait. Whether you are using your own back yard or grandma’s, this is the perfect session to capture the essence of childhood. I’m picturing (ba-da-ba 🥁) sprinklers, running around, chalk, bubbles and pure joy. I cannot wait to photograph these sessions this year and if this sounds like you, I’d love to capture this for your family!
Arcade Session
Who doesn’t love some games, especially retro/vintage vibes? (Also let’s not talk about what we call vintage anymore it makes me feel old, lol.) If you want some photos playing pinball or a ski ball battle, an arcade is perfect for fun, energetic family photos and great memories.

Ice Cream Shop
Does your family have a favorite dessert spot? Going to one of your favorite ice cream shop or local favorite is a great way to capture your family doing the things you actually do together. This way when you and your family look back at these photos years later you can say “I remember when we used to go here” or “This was our favorite place!”. More importantly than photos looking good, it’s important that they mean something to you and your family.
