Cedar Falls Iowa Sunset Session
The sun came out to play with Miah and Trent and their Cedar Falls couples session was pure magic. As a Cedar Falls Iowa photographer, I never get sick of these views.
We met in Cedar Falls at a wildflower field with the kind of open sky that makes everything feel cinematic. Miah and Trent came ready to just be together, and honestly that’s my favorite kind of energy to photograph. No stiff posing, no awkward smiles, just two people who are genuinely crazy about each other and a whole lot of golden light to work with.
A Session That Felt Like Them
Miah and Trent enjoyed the night with a picnic blanket, a charcuterie board, and a bottle of wine. They weren’t trying to perform for the camera. They were just living their life and letting me document it, which is exactly how I love to work!
If you know Miah, you might recognize her as the powerhouse behind Move with Miah Pilates in the Cedar Falls area, and her energy on camera is just as magnetic as you’d expect. She moves like she’s completely comfortable in her own skin, and Trent looks at her like she hung every star in that Iowa sky.
Speaking of the sky, we stayed until the moon came up. That blue hour moonrise shot happened completely naturally and I genuinely gasped behind my camera when I saw it. If there is anything you should know about me, I never turn away a chance to photograph the moon. I’m obsessed. I think it’s so romantic.

Cedar Falls is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph couples in Iowa because of the diversity in locations. Main street, parks, the open fields, the wildflowers in summer, the way the light falls at golden hour, it’s unmatched. - Avoid busy patterns or matching too matchy: complementary is better than identical
- Dress for the location: flowy fabrics move beautifully in open fields
