Iowa Golden Hour Engagement Session with Brady & Mikaela in Cedar Falls

This Iowa golden hour engagement session with Brady and Mikaela went from cozy downtown Cedar Falls streets to glowing prairie fields and it couldn’t have been more them.

These two met while working as nurses at the same hospital (yes, Grey’s Anatomy vibes), and here’s the kicker: a patient literally told Mikaela to ask Brady out. The rest? History.

We started downtown Cedar Falls, where Mikaela’s fun, spontaneous energy brought out the most joyful side of Brady, even though he swears he’s an introvert who rarely leaves the house (except for Target runs, obviously). Watching the two of them laugh, play around, and fully be themselves made the city feel like a movie set.

And then came the sunset.

We wrapped the session in the golden prairie fields just outside town, with their pup Macky, because of course dog parents make the best photo partners. The light was dreamy, the vibes were effortless, and they looked right at home, from tall grass to staircase cuddles.

These are the kind of couples that remind me why I photograph love stories. They’re laid back but deeply connected. They play pickleball one day, hit a local brewery the next, and still make space to savor slow, golden moments like this.

Can’t wait to celebrate their wedding soon at Holiday Lake already obsessed with their energy, their story, and their trust in the process.
